The Lotus Pond

      Located in the center of Baoding city, the Lotus Pond is an exquisite Northern style garden, famous for its long history and its peculiar architectural design of building the pavilion on water.  
      This ancient garden was first built in 675 A.D (the second year of Emperor Gaozong's reign in Tang Dynasty). It was named the Lotus Pond for the lush growth of lotus flowers in the pond.
      In 1733, the 11th year of Emperor Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty, the highest learning institute in Zhili Province, the Lotus Academy was set up in this garden.
      The Lotus Pond is now one of the top 10 ancient gardens in China.
